KIVA
Objective
Partner with KIVA, the #1 edible brand in the country, to redesign chocolate bar and gummy packaging. The packaging needs to be 100% recyclable and biodegradable, eco-friendly, child-resistant, and compliant with cannabis packaging regulations. Intake artwork from Stout design agency and execute production design.
Solution
We [Uneka] established a cross-functional, in-house team of Structural Design, Graphic Design, Project Management and Manufacturing. I'm continually responsible for intensive production design efforts and providing production ready files for manufacturing. All graphic artwork was provided by Stout design agency.
On the boxes, I designed a multi-level blind deboss stamp, which was perfected in manufacturing. This gives the illusion of depth and realism.
The Camino tins incorporate unique vector illustrations and gradients, to create a graphic scene. When we received the artwork, the amount of colors used was not compliant with our manufacturing capabilities and the way color gradated was yielding unwanted bands of color and desaturated colors. I worked meticulously with our production facility in China to convert all SKU's to a 4 color process with 2 spot inks, organize layer structure for simplified editing, and preflight for production.
